We are Such Stuff as Dreams are Made On

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Dartmouth chapter.

Someone once told me to romanticize the little things. To drink in the sun when you walk on the way to work. To listen to the rhythm of a city and hear music. To pour yourself a cup of warm tea and enjoy every sip like it’s the first.

To find beauty in the world is akin to finding hope where, at first, you might see none. To see the vicious news cycle or hear about how someone was hurt by another. There are moments where we lose hope it will every change.

But someone asked me recently if anything good was happening in the world, right at that second. I floundered to come up with any ideas. The search engine on my phone wasn’t exactly helping me. I settled for a joke, and that was that.

Lately, it’s been more important now than ever to find moments of beauty where you can. For every news story of hate or disaster, there’s an untold story where someone won a personal battle with mental health. A story where two people fall in love freely and without judgement. A story where someone, for the first time in a long time, smiles sincerely and genuinely.

There is beauty in the world still. We are made up of dreams and stardust, and at the end of it all, that is a beautiful thing.
