SOME SPOILERS FOR SHE-RA SEASON 2 BELOW
I have one thing to say: When is season 3 coming out????
The second season continued on with the things I loved about season 2, and it also continued to build upon those complex relationships, as well as added a lot of amazing new characters, including Bow’s dads! BOW’S DADS!
One thing I thought at the end was that it didn’t really feel like a full season. The ending felt a bit abrupt, but I do know that the creators in the past plan on having 13-episode story arcs (which is why the first season, consisting of 13 episodes, felt like a full and complete storyline). Since season 2 was only 7 episodes, I anticipate the third season will come soon and will also have around 7 episodes, which would complete that second arc that season 2 left left us in the middle of. The Shadow Weaver origin episode and the episode that introduced us to Bow’s dads were the two strongest episodes so far, but every episode is honestly impeccable.
One of the things I went into the season excited about was the relationship between Catra and Adora. I think the first season was really about them pulling apart from one another and, in many ways, showing that their allegiances no longer lie in one another. It was incredibly painful to see, but it’s even more pronounced in season 2, which shows Catra and Adora actually functioning apart from one another in a way that feels permanent. Before now, they were both determined to bring each other to their respective sides, but the season 1 finale really showed them that they are on opposite sides of what is quickly becoming an all-consuming war for the planet.
Adora and Catra learn how to be independant of each other in season 2, and they learn how to actually trust other people, especially for Catra. Scorpia proves herself to be on Catra’s side with no strings attached, and I think Catra really needs a relationship like that. Scorpia is giving Catra what Adora inadvertently found with Glimmer and Bow, and the underlying romantic feelings towards Catra from Scorpia will be interesting to see in the coming seasons.
Although I am still confident that Adora and Catra are endgame for the show, they’ve done a lot of damage to their relationship, and both are healing from immensely traumatic childhoods. That will take time to heal, and it will be a long road before they find their way back together, I think.
In conclusion, I cannot wait to see what the writers have in store for us, and in the meantime, I will be listening to Warriors by Aaliyah Rose on repeat. For the honor of Greyskull!
