5 Tips to Help You Get Organized

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

So, I just finished my first week of classes, and I was kind of shocked to find myself completely overwhelmed. I’m used to cruising through the first few days and working my way up to more assignments as we go. This year the assignments came right away and with no warning! It left me feeling a bit unsure of how I would tackle this semester, but then I realized, “Vi, you just have to work at being more organized, and you might not feel so swamped.” So I came up with some tips and tricks to help me, and anyone else who needs it, achieve that.

Clean up your room

“A messy room is a messy mind.” This one seems so simple, but a messy room can really have an affect on your mood and production levels.

Set reminders on your phone

It’s so easy to get caught up in your everyday life and forget about that discussion post that’s due tonight. Setting reminders can help you avoid those stressful situations.

Invest in a planner

This is a great tool to help you plan out your work or important due dates. Not only can you keep track of your assignments, but it can help you manage your time.

Color code/label things

You can color code things by their level of importance or by the name of the class. I have a folder for anything MWF related and likewise for TR.

Don’t Procrastinate

I know it’s tempting but you have to resist. If you find yourself with extra time to complete your work, just DO IT! Your future self will thank you.

I’m glad I could share some of my tools with you, and hopefully they can help you be more organized!

Viola is a very loving person/artist, sensitive, and passionate about everything she does. Viola is an introverted soul trying something different, and wanting to share her interest with you. She's all over the place and tends to be a bit unorthodox but you'll enjoy it. Viola is an Art Education Major with a minor in Psychology. Her dream is to work in New York as an art therapist for children with special needs.
