What Life is Really Like on the York Hill Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

After 2 years of living on the main campus, I have moved up to the York Hill campus. At first, I was nervous about not living on the same campus that I take classes on. What if I forgot something? What if I spilled something and needed to change my shirt? What if I just wanted to lay in my bed in between classes?

After about of week of living in York, I have realized it is not as bad as I had expected. There are definitely some pros and cons!

Here are a couple of things that are different when living on the York Hill Campus…

  1. You have to get up earlier to either drive or shuttle to the main campus. For someone like me who would sleep till the last possible second and then walk to class when I lived on main, this was a big adjustment for me! But once I got into the routine it has not been that difficult.
  2. Relying on the shuttles to get you to class on time!

  3. The dining hall on York closes earlier than the dining hall on main and opens later on the weekends. So make sure you have something to eat when you are waiting for it to open!

  4. You have a kitchen! Not every dorm on the main campus has a kitchen, moving to York you will have a kitchen as well as a meal plan. It is nice to be able to cook your own food and have food in your room for those days the dining hall may open late or close early or for some late-night snacks!

  5. The York Hill dining hall has a market! If you need eggs, milk, pizza bagels, chips, or cereal, they have that stocked up in the back! You are able to use your meal plan to pay for it which is awesome! It saves you money and has you avoid having to go grocery shopping.

  6.  The best thing about living on York Hill is the views! No matter which way you look you won’t be disappointed by what you see! You can see Sleeping Giant, the Long Island Sound, and beautiful sunsets and sunrises!

Overall York Hill is great! Of course, adjusting to something new is always difficult, but it is just that an adjustment!
