While dating apps are incredibly convenient when it seems like you have no time to go out and meet someone, there are many shortcomings to an app like Tinder where you can only send messages. That being said, here are my top eight Tinder pet peeves based on my experiences with the app. If you are a Tinder user, you may want to take note of whether you are doing any of these to others.

Asking me a question even though the answer is in my bio. Don’t ask me where I go to school, or how old I am, when you can easily take two seconds to look at my bio; at least try to act like you care.

Starting the conversation but not replying once I respond. Why did you even message me if you aren’t going to respond when I reply??

Instantly asking for my Snapchat or number. Sorry, I’d like to at least have a short conversation with you on Tinder first!

Starting a conversation with expletives or something overtly sexual. Be polite at first, then feel out the vibe to see if these messages are appropriate and desired!

Not being upfront. Although being aggressively sexual right off the bat is undesirable, it is important to make your intentions clear. Whether it be hooking up, casually dating, or a serious relationship, it’s important that we’re on the same page. The last thing anyone wants is to catch feelings for someone who isn’t looking for a romantic partner!

Not having any individual pictures in your bio. I’m trying to see if I’m interested in you, not all 12 of your friends! Even worse is a profile where all the pictures are of you and the same friend. While it may seem shallow, it’s fair to want to know who you’re talking to!

Even worse – not having pictures at all. It’s Tinder, and you can’t fully get to know someone from pictures and a bio, but appearance is an important factor for initial attraction when you are on a dating app.

Having no written bio. Please. Include. Something. In. Your. Bio. Even the school you go to and your graduating year is better than a completely blank profile that just screams sketchy.
