Senior year, the beginning of the rest of your life. On the outside, senior years seems like it is a breeze.  But, on the inside, it is more complicated than that. Senior year is a jumble of emotions that cycle. Of course, the year is full of fun new experiences, but these experiences can be nerve-raking at first. We are talking about the rest of your life here! So, of course, it seems a bit scary. I am a senior right now, and even though I haven’t experienced all of senior year yet, these are what I know that I will experience.

The start of senior year is pretty much stress free. You just moved in, living with your best friends. You are decorating your room and putting your house together. Most likely you have afternoon classes on Friday so you can sleep in super late. The first few weeks are pretty much a breeze and will end up flying by. It feels like it should be like this forever and you love every moment of it. Although you know this will change, deep in your mind you wish it could stay this way forever.

The middle of the year is when it gets to be more stressful.  This time of year, is when students tend to start looking into grad school or jobs immediately following college. It is the moment when you have to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life. Now, supposedly, later on in life you could switch and do something else, but that is challenging to do.

Now let’s talk about the insane debt most students will have to face after they graduate. I am lucky enough not to have this, but many students do and this sometimes plays a roll into what type of job they will end up getting.

By the end of the year, you have so many emotions going through your mind it will be hard to think straight. You are having fun and are really happy but at the same time even though it does not necessarily show, you will be sad that this chapter is soon to come to an end. That means that your whole life will have to change because you cant have the same sort of schedule that you have in college.

Realizing that your life if about to completely change is extremely nerve wracking which is both a good and bad thing. You’re stepping out into the rest of your life all alone, your training wheels are gone now. College is the best experience in life and stepping out of that college mode is hard. But with good friends and family you will get through it.
