With Halloween approaching soon, many of us are looking for ways to get in the holiday spirit. The most popular forms of entertainment for the holiday season are movies, haunted houses and parties. However, I believe podcasts can just as terrifying and entertaining as the ones stated earlier.

Podcasts capture the spirit of storytelling, except you don’t have to strain yourself by telling it. Storytelling has always been a Halloween tradition, especially in my family. So with podcasts, you can relive this tradition and celebrate with your family and friends.

Jenna & Julien Podcast

If you like Jenna Marbles, you will love this podcast. She hosts this with her boyfriend, Julien Solomita. While this is a comedy podcast, they always do Halloween themed podcasts around this time of year. They aren’t too scary either, so this podcast is perfect for anyone who wants to embrace the Halloween spirit without scaring the hell out of themselves.

Mile Higher Podcast

Another YouTuber podcast, Kendall Rae shares this show with her husband. Like her YouTube channel, this podcast is true-crime based and has some conspiracy theories thrown in. While traditionally, we think of ghost and monster stories to tell around Halloween, I believe that true-crime and conspiracy theories can be equally as terrifying if not more.

Scary Stories Told in The Dark

A spin-off from Chilling Tales for Dark Nights and a YouTube channel of the same name, this narrator, Otis Jiry, tells previously published and independent horror stories. It also reminded me of one of my favorite childhood books, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Knifepoint Horror

This podcast is absolutely terrifying. It tells a story as a single human voice describes the events exactly as it experienced them. It genuinely makes you feel like you are with them experiencing the same thing, which to me, it the best type of scary storytelling.

You can find this podcast on Spotify, Stitcher, and Apple.

Two Girls One Ghost

A comedy based podcast, the narrators, Corinne Vien and Sabrina Deana-Roga are also close friends who share their paranormal experiences with each other and the listeners. Moreover, they often invite guests so that they can also share their experiences as well.

You can find this podcast on Spotify, Apple, Stitcher, and their website.

The NoSleep Podcast

This podcast is another anthology series that narrates original fiction and scary stories. It creates an eerie tone with music and sound effects.

You can find this podcast on Spotify, Apple, Stitcher and their website.

With all of these podcasts, your October is guaranteed to be terrifying. Whether you decide to listen in the car, with friends or in between your study breaks, I can promise you that these will make your spooky season 10 times better. My only advice is to not listen to these alone!
