Apple picking is definitely one of my favorite fall activities. I love getting bundled up in cute fall clothes and heading to the orchard with some friends to take pictures and pick apples. However, I always seem to overestimate how many apples I will actually eat though, and I hate wasting food. So, I asked around and dug through Pinterest boards for hours trying to find the best apple recipes.

Homemade Applesauce
This is one of the easiest ways to use those leftover apples. My mom has been making homemade applesauce for years and it’s a personal favorite! My recipe is as follows:

Peel and dice 5-6 medium apples and place them in a medium sized pot

Fill the pot with water to the top of the apples

Boil the apples for 10 minutes

Add a half-cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon (can add more based on preference!)

Continue to boil for another 5-7 minutes. Use a fork to squish up the apples until you find a consistency you like.

If you’re looking for a healthier option that doesn’t include a bunch of added sugar, this is for you! According to this Pinterest recipe, all you need to make these apple chips is a cutting board and an oven. Cinnamon is optional. Simply slice the apples and bake them until crispy.
