“Patiently, quietly, faithfully, worship me”

I don’t know if any of you have taken a look at the Zodiac Venus signs playlists that Shannon Elliot has put together, but you should. Granted that you know what your Venus sign is. The very first song to kick off the playlist for the Leo Venus is “Worship” by Lizzo, an absolute bop.

The first time I heard Lizzo, I was at Retro Fitness and her album popped on the screen. I couldn’t get her song out of my head. It became a little joke between my friends and I whenever the song came on because we felt like it was following us. Other than hearing “Juice” I never really went further. Sure, I saw the memes, I may have even said her lyrics out loud without ever really listening to her music.

Lizzo has come into my life at a time of immense need for emotional support. As the season for relationships has begun, being in the wake of my post-break up blues has found me needing more than just my friends saying “it’s okay, girl!” Hearing that upbeat, soul-popping music just put me in the most badass mood.

Lizzo just embodies the whole “you-matter” look and style. She wants nothing but to make sure that her listeners are bossing it up at work and living it up in the streets.

I just want to listen to her music and sip some wine while I scroll through trivial Buzzfeed articles.

I just want to squat and kick invisible enemies.

Maybe fill out applications to internships that I think I have a shot.

How can one person make me feel so special despite the millions of listens across platforms?

I find that my happiness comes from the music and the beats that she has. They are plays and remixes of old soul and R&B that stitch together the modern wave of self-loving rap and old school confidence.

Lizzo is the icon for everyone that needs her help. She can be used as a supportive crutch for every problem: big, small, general, or specific to a very minute detail.

Use her music as you please, so long as the usage is for love, happiness, and confidence.
