Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Healing Crystals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, you’ve probably heard all the hype surrounding healing crystals. Although there isn’t a whole lot of scientific evidence supporting the powers of crystals, more and more people are starting to swear by them. Crystals are said to be able to promote healing of the mind, body, and soul. They surround you with positive energy and thoughts while washing away any negativity. About a year ago I hopped on the crystal bandwagon, so I compiled a list of some staples that might help you!

Clear Quartz

Clear Quartz is one of the most popular and well known of all the crystals. It is also one of the most powerful ones. Clear Quartz is considered the “master” crystal because when paired with any other stones it amplifies their powers. Clear Quartz is also associated with helping awareness and clarity.

Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz happens to be my favorite crystal. Not only is it pretty and pink, but it has everything to do with spreading the love. Rose Quartz helps encourage love in all relationships including your passions, friends, family, or significant other. On the flip side, Rose Quartz promotes emotional healing and forgiveness, which we all know can be difficult sometimes.

Amethyst

Amethyst is another super popular crystal. I wouldn’t be surprised if you already own this crystal on a piece of jewelry and didn’t even know! It is a beautiful shade of purple and helps keep you balanced. Amethyst is known to be associated with intuition and higher wisdom. The best part about Amethyst is that it helps aid in sleep and understanding your dreams. Let’s be honest, we could all use a little more sleep.

Citrine

Citrine is a yellowish golden color and is basically a ray of sunshine. Citrine removes negative thoughts, and turns them into positive ones. It promotes brightness, positive energy, and optimism. More benefits of Citrine include higher self esteem and self confidence.

Carnelian

This one is a fiery orange and it’s color really matches its purpose because it fuels your fire. Carnelian is associated with passion, creativity, and sexuality. It is also known for healing from any kind of abuse. Carnelian will help give you the motivation and drive needed to reach success and achieve your goals.

Red Jasper

As the name suggests, Red Jasper is an opaque red color and connects you to your inner strength. This stone will keep you grounded in difficult situations, as well as give you the courage to face your deepest fears. Red Jasper is also associated with honesty and nurturing.

Blue Aventurine

This bright blue stone has properties of calming down your stress and anxiety. Let’s face it, college students are constantly under an enormous amount of stress. Blue Aventurine aids in promoting hope and empathy. Another huge benefit of Blue Aventurine is clear speech. This stone will help you clearly speak your mind and fight for what you believe in.

Whether you believe in the crystal trend or just enjoy the aesthetic of them, healing crystals are worth giving a shot. Keeping an open mind is key. If you are skeptical of crystals to begin with, they may not work for you. Either way, keep spreading the good vibes, Penn Staters!
