Instagram Accounts You Need to Follow to Spruce Up Your Feed

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Toronto MU chapter.

Let’s face it, whether we like to admit it or not, everyone spends a collective amount of time on social media, Instagram especially. But what is the reason for all this screen time? The answer obviously lies in the people or accounts we follow that catch our eye.

As a generation, we are constantly obsessed with what everyone else around us is doing, and more importantly, posting. With that being said, as much as I love to keep up with the lives of my friends, family and celebrities, what really attracts me to Instagram are certain accounts I follow which post thing that interest me highly and allow me to potentially learn something new, be inspired or just simply make me happy.

So without further ado, here are Instagram accounts you should follow to spice up your feed:

@diet_prada

If you love all things high fashion, @diet_prada is the account for you. This account with over 1 million followers showcases the high fashion world in all its glitz, glamour and scandals. Using brutally honest critique of designers, brands, their products overall and fashion history, their main focus is to essentially call out companies copying each other’s work. Not only that, but @diet_prada also posts red carpet fashion such as the Oscars or the Met Gala, and critiques or compares the outfits worn by celebrities without holding back on that brutally honest criticism.

@__nitch

This Instagram account which mainly has black and white filtered photos is for anyone who likes inspirational words, quotes, and most importantly, the famous people who have said them. Posting almost daily, @__nitch shares a vintage feel with professional photos followed by quotes from celebrities such as David Bowie, Heath Ledger, Keanu Reeves and more.

@boshbabexoxo

Ah, the Y2K era, my childhood. A nostalgic time full of all things Lizzie Mcguire, low-rise jeans, flip phones and Britney Spears on repeat from my hot pink MP3 player. @boshbabexoxo is like a blast from the past for all the 90s/2000s babies, bringing us our girly, glittery and pink fantasy, and helping us relive iconic moments from our childhood with every post. As Paris Hilton once said, “That’s hot!”

@velvetcoke

Notably followed by many celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski, @velvetcoke shares pop culture history through photos and videos from different decades. I especially like this account because it shares fun facts or stories related to the particular event that they post about. You really do learn something new every day. From music, to movies and TV, this account will surely enlighten you or even remind you of some amazing moments in pop culture history over the years.

@to_finest

This food page is a personal favourite because it posts pictures of many different food trends and styles at restaurants all around the city of Toronto and more. This account will for sure give you ideas for where to have dinner with the girls downtown one night. I’m warning you now though, if you look at this page late at night, you’ll definitely be so hungry that your mouth is going to water and you’ll need to go to the kitchen for a late-night snack!
