“Aren’t you sick of us being toxic?”

“Don’t you think it’s time to move on?”

My answers to those questions were both yes but I wasn’t ready to accept that it was the truth. These were questions that my ex-boyfriend asked me during winter break. We had been broken up since my junior year of high school but had continued to see each other. We maintained a situationship. Over the course of three years, it was full of laughter and fun, but it was also toxic and damaging to both parties.

This was the moment that I decided that I didn’t need to have a situationship or a serious relationship. The only thing that I will be able to offer to any male in 2020 is friendship. I want to take 2020 to focus on myself, personal growth, and most importantly, my business.

My new year’s resolution is to go the entire year without dating anyone or even having a situationship. I want to use this time to teach myself that it’s okay to be alone and spend time by yourself. I am going to take the time to love myself this year. I believe that 2020 will be my most productive and successful year yet. Cheers to the year of the single gal!
