Could I BE any more excited for NBC’s Peacock to launch? If you’ve ever seen an episode of Friends (or if you’re like me and you’ve watched the whole series, own a Central Perk thermos, want the series to immediately return to Netflix and actually read my opening sentence in Chandler Bing’s voice), you may be eagerly awaiting the arrival of Peacock as well.

While Friends is full of fantastic personalities, Chandler Bing IS my favorite character on the show. Aside from his sarcastic comments and quirkiness, I am especially fond of his relationship with Monica. I’ve observed that the Ross-and-Rachel duo receives most of the hype surrounding the show, but I’m here to argue why Chandler and Monica are a better pair than Ross and Rachel.

Consistency

I can’t keep track of how many times Ross and Rachel argued and got back together, took a break, etc. Even though Chandler and Monica don’t spark their romance until season five, the Bings win this category—hands down.

Friendship

Before Chandler and Monica began dating, the two had a solid foundation for their relationship—they were caring friends for many years. Ross and Rachel, on the other hand, had an utterly subpar start to their relationship. Despite Rachel being close friends with Monica in high school, Rachel ignored Monica’s older brother Ross. And even from the very first episode—when Rachel moved to New York in the Friends pilot—Ross was driven to date her, removing any genuine platonic love the two of them could have had for each other.

The opposites-attract concept

Monica is a beloved ultra-organized person, admitting her need for order and absolutely embracing it. She was once found by the rest of the gang using a small vacuum to clean her main vacuum (lol, Monica’s awesome). Chandler, on the other hand, does not share this desire for order. He has no problem being awkward or getting up on a coffee table to dance. However, Monica helps Chandler maintain order in his life—she even helped him start a new career path advertising—and Chandler helps Monica relax and even makes fun of her habits in an endearing way.

Also, I still get chills when I am reminded of this scene. That is all.
