I believe in the idea of soulmates

Not someone who “completes” you

But someone who’s the other side of the same coin

The yin to my yang

A balance of cosmic forces

But what happens when the connection is disrupted

All things that seemed to be kismet

Now just appears to be a coincidence

A lightning strike in the moment

A sudden attraction of magnets

Meeting this person wasn’t a bad thing

It just wasn’t in the cards

But an encounter that needed to happen

In order to guide me on a path to growth

An opportunity in the making

Maybe in another life, we’ll meet

And the moment will bring us together

Molding us into the stars

Becoming a beacon of hope

For wandering lost souls

I don’t regret meeting you

On the days that feel bleak

Your smile shines through the clouds

Keeping my thoughts afloat

And my curiosity energized

We were never really a thing

An attachment like no other

Eyes bore into each other’s souls

Like our lives depended on it

But alas it was never meant to be

It harder to get over someone

Who was an “almost something”

Just a blip on the radar

A drop in the ocean

A missed connection

Hi All! I'm a senior at UNT majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Peace Studies. I'm an aspiring screenwriter so movie commentaries are my weakness. I'm just here to make the world a better place by using my voice to help uplift others and sharing my stories in ways that I haven't seen them told before.
Scotlyn is a UNT alum, Class of 2020. She graduated with a degree in Digital and Print Journalism and a minor in English. During her time with Her Campus, she served as the Chapter President for two years, and also held positions as Chapter Advisor, Writer, and Chapter Expansion Assistant through Her Campus Media. And yes, her name is like the country, but spelled differently.
