Whipped Coffee: What’s All the Buzz?

Whipped coffee, it’s all the BUZZ lately (see what I did there mwahah). Apparently this recipe originated on Tik Tok, of all places. As an avid anti- Tik Toker (the mere term Tik Toker repulses me), I was reluctant to try out this trend for myself. However, given that Quarantine is in full effect and we’re all resigned to our at home coffee abilities, I figured there’s no better time than now. Plus, I’ve never found an at home iced coffee recipe that I’ve been in love with. Personally I tweaked the recipe with a sugar free substitute, try Stevia, just so I’m not starting my day with 2 tbsp of white sugar.

RECIPE:

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee or espresso powder

  • 2 tbsp Stevia

  • 2 tbsp hot water

INSTRUCTIONS:

If you’re lucky enough, you’ll have a hand mixer or milk frother, in which case you’ll mix this mixture until it turns a light caramel color and has the texture of a fluffy cloud. However if you’re a pedestrian like myself, you’ll stand in your kitchen with a whisk until you’ve practically splatter painted your cabinets, and resigned to a frothy texture in favor of keeping your wrist intact :) And voila! 5-7 (or 20) minutes later you have whipped coffee! I pour mine in a glass jar (transparent to appreciate the true beauty of this coffee) over unsweetened almond milk with ice. Enjoy :)
