You know it. You’ve heard about it. It’s taken the country by storm. But maybe you’re hesitant to watch because it seems like all those other shows with crazy people who don’t know how to handle something. I was hesitant at the beginning too and now I can’t stop thinking about it. Here’s 5 reasons why you should watch Tiger King:

Baby Tigers

There are a ton of them throughout the series. Tigers are my favorite animal and much like I love kittens, I also love tiny little tiger cubs. They’re adorable and will keep you hooked.

Joe Exotic

The Tiger King himself, this is who the series follows. He is crazy, but in such an entertaining way that’ll make you want to watch more. The added bonus is that you get to watch the crazy from a distance instead of being right there.

Murder Mystery

To call it a ‘murder mystery’ might be a stretch since most people are convinced they know who did it, but that’s the best way to put it. There is an unsolved murder with a lot of evidence pointing to one person. It’s interesting to watch all the evidence build up and come together.

Rivalries

Joe Exotic’s sanctuary isn’t the only one that’s featured in this series. There are three main places they interview and show that do similar things to what Joe does, but see themselves as better. There’s also a huge rivalry between Joe and Carole Baskin, which makes for some interesting drama.

Question Everything

As the series goes on, it does get darker and things escalate to a very unhealthy level. A lot of problems reveal themselves and bring to light that not everything is as it seems. You walk away thinking “well who else does things like this?” or “does this happen in other industries?” which is a really important takeaway. Don’t take everything at face value.

I hope I was able to sway your decision to watch this show because it is definitely something. Put the first episode on in the background while you do something else, just to start it. I guarantee you’ll be hooked by the end of it.

(This show deals with some dark stuff so I didn’t want to leave out a message about trigger warnings. There is animal cruelty and footage of an off-camera suicide (episode 5, 20ish minutes in). Please please please take care of yourself while watching. These were only the two biggest ones that I know of, but there may be more so tread lightly.)
