Is Love Really Blind? Warning: *SPOILERS*

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

One of the newest Netflix original shows, called Love is Blind, has taken the world by storm. This show gives a whole new twist to blind dating. And I mean, it literally puts the ‘blind’ in blind dating. So what’s dating like on this show? One man and one woman are put into rooms called “the pods”, separated by a glass wall in the middle. In the pods, they are able to date without ever meeting face to face. They go on dates with everyone: women meet every man and men meet every woman. In the end, the man (or woman) picks who they felt they connected the most with. There’s a catch though. What is it?

They don’t meet until they are ENGAGED.

Yep, these couples don’t ever see each other face to face until someone has popped the question. Crazy! I found the overall concept of this show very interesting. Blind dating and a blind engagement, it’s INSANE. Nothing like this has ever been done before.

So what about the couples? They all share one thing in common: they want to find love. Watching them put their fears aside to truly get the full experience of this experiment is inspiring. They put themselves out there to find the person they want to spend the rest of their lives with. They all took this opportunity to find their one true love. That really says something.

And don’t forget the drama. It’s not TV without it. Fights between couples, girls fighting over guys, life outside of the pods, and the results of the weddings. You’ll get your fill of drama.

I highly recommend this show. Netflix has done an amazing job of executing the experiment. It’s a unique concept and shows that love can, in fact, be blind.
