Well we still don’t know what is happening with the President, but here are some things that were positive that came from the most recent election that are going to help move America into a more inclusive and progressive nation.
- Vermont’s first transgender state legislator Taylor Small.

- Nation’s first openly transgender state senator (Delaware) Sarah McBride.

Sarah McBride makes history by being the first openly transgender member of the United States Senate.
- First Afro-Latinx LGBTQ+ person in congress Ritchie Torres.

The House of Representatives has gained a very important member, Ritchie Torres, the first Afro-Latinx member of the LGBTQ+. This kind of representation is important for the American people to see their identities where the laws are being created and passed.
- Colorado’s Corey Gardner was voted out after only one term for former governor John Hickenlooper.

Corey Gardner opposed the views of the majority of Coloradans often, so after only serving one term the people of colorado were able to replace him with someone they felt would represent them better.
- A record turnout of 62% of the US population in the 2020 election.

According to The Washington Post, there was a record turnout for the presidential election for 2020 at 62% of the American population voting by either mail-in ballots, in-person voting, or absentee voting.
- 25-year-old Madison Cawthorn will be the youngest member of congress (North Carolina).

Republican nominee for the House of Representatives for North Carolina Madison Cawthorn became the youngest member, creating more representation for younger voters and constituents.
- First Non-binary state lawmaker in the US and first Muslim in Oklahoma’s statehouse Mauree Turner.

Mauree Turner has also made history by being the first Nonbinary lawmaker, creating more representation for people who identify with this gender identity.
While the Presidential portion of the election has been a long and tiresome process, there have been some good things that have come from the 2020 election.
