Let’s face it, we’re all extremely busy people in our own ways. For me, I am a full-time student with two jobs who is involved with extracurriculars. For others, they may be involved in much more or much less. At some point, it seems the balance between personal and business or school time becomes a very gray area. For me personally, I know that if I don’t have a set balance, my anxiety will skyrocket. Balance in your everyday life will not only cause you to stress out, but it could also create mental and social health issues as well.

The first thing that I personally do is create a plan. Planning my life creates an invisible safety net that is there for me to fall on should something not go as I originally wanted. For some, planning their lives four years ahead of time may stress them out more, and that’s ok! What might work for me, might not necessarily work for other people. If planning your life out seems like a stressful process for you, maybe start slow and making a list of your goals and figuring out how you can achieve those goals.

Another thing that I do to create a healthy balance between my social and personal time is to set time for myself at a minimum of once a week, if not once a day. Time for myself usually includes watching some television, taking a bath, or just listening to some music to wind down after a stressful week. This allows me to decompress and take a moment to breathe, which is sometimes hard to do during a busy day. Finding an outlet to release your stress is vital to your physical, mental, and emotional health. If you hold in stress for too long, you will begin to feel fatigued, anxious, and even depressed with all the things happening in life.

Creating a balance is extremely important. You don’t want to live your life with all work and no play, and vice versa. Life is all about balance and finding that balance is key to having a successful future not only in the workplace, but in your future relationships as well. Never be afraid to seek help from friends and family to help you navigate this crazy thing called life.
