As the New Year began, I made a small goal for myself to start listening to podcasts. The word “podcast” might scare some people off because it is sometimes associated with being boring or too long. That’s what I thought for a while. Throughout the month of January, I discovered so many podcasts I loved, whether they were for pure entertainment or to learn something new (while still being entertained). I listen to podcasts when walking almost anywhere, sometimes I’ll even take long walks to get outside and listen to a new podcast episode. They are perfect for the car, walking, even just to have something play in the background. Here are 7 of my current favorite podcasts!

Acting My Age with Rohini Elyse

Rohini Elyse isn’t afraid to talk about anything, she’s open about her life and tells her listeners lots. As it says in the podcast description, “let’s talk about the ups and downs of life, and explore what it means to “Act Your Age”‘. She is relatable and hilarious and offers great insight and advice. And as a bonus, if you are interested in spirituality, Rohini often discusses her own experience with spirituality.

Favorite episodes:

“Treating Our Bodies Like Temples with Tasha Franken the Pilates Queen!”

“Personal Growth, Breakups, Spirituality, and Getting to Know Yourself feat. the bestie Katherine!”

“Gratitude and Why We Need It!! *you may shed a tear*”

We Bought a House with Claudia Sulewski and Finneas

Claudia Sulewski is a Youtuber and Finneas is a singer-songwriter. The two of them have been dating for a few years and they began their podcast towards the beginning of quarantine. They are absolutely hilarious and their episodes contain so many of their personal stories. If you’re looking for entertainment, you’ll find it here.

Favorite Episodes:

“Cooking with Robert Pattinson”

“Couples Therapy”

“Avoiding Friends in Public”

Mike and Sarah are journalists and their podcast is all about discussing events and people that you might actually be wrong about. You’ll learn a lot from them while also being able to laugh.

“Princess Diana” (this is a series of 5 parts)

“The Stonewall Uprising”

MuggleCast

Are you a fan of Harry Potter? This is the perfect podcast for you. In fact, it was the one that really got me into podcasts. Andrew, Eric, Micah, and Laura discuss different topics surrounding the Harry Potter books and movies and include plenty of feedback from listeners as well as connecting aspects of the wizarding world to the real world.

“#487: The Scariest Moments In Harry Potter”

Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain

I’m sure we are all familiar with Emma Chamberlain, an incredibly successful 19-year-old Youtuber. Her podcast is the perfect place for sisterly advice and entertainment. She ends each episode by answering questions fans send her, as well as having specific episodes called advice sessions.

Favorite Episodes:

“Dealing with Adults”

“The Illusion of Money”

“Why Do I Hate Myself?”

Stuff You Should Know

Stuff You Should know is an iHeartRadio podcast and is exactly as it sounds, to teach you about stuff you should probably know. Out of all the podcasts in this list, this is the one for education and not for laughs.

Favorite Episodes:

“The Science of Cute”

“Space Weather – What’s That?!”

“How Pain Works”

Office Ladies

Are you a fan of The Office? You’ll love this podcast. Jenna Fischer, aka Pam Beesly, and Angela Kinsey, aka Angela Martin, discuss each episode of The Office. The podcast began in October of 2019, so there are plenty of episodes for you to choose from.

Favorite Episodes:

“Diversity Day”

“Beach Games”

“The Injury”

Podcasts are a very underrated form of entertainment and I feel like they deserved to be appreciated more. They go along perfectly with other activities and no matter what you are listening to, there will be something to take away from it!
