Like most TCNJ students, I was really excited to live in Campus Town. My friends and I signed our lease in December during our sophomore year, and we were already ready to stop living in Decker Hall. I am now halfway through my junior year, and I love living in Campus Town. Still, there are a few things I miss about being on campus, especially during a global pandemic.
1. Eick food.
I know, it came as a surprise to me, too. I don’t really miss the food; it’s more the convenience. Meal planning is surprisingly difficult, and despite living with three other people, our menu has not developed much. I really miss having options.
2. Library spot.
The library seems like a much farther walk then when I was technically on campus. I miss going to my favorite spot in the library to write my papers. I liked to people-watch as I wrote about Shakespeare, but now, campus is quiet and lonely.
3. Trad Wednesdays.
My friends and I dubbed Traditions, Trad, our freshman year. We had our little tradition to go every Wednesday. Despite the long wait time, we loved to go. Sadly, we don’t have any points to use at meal equiv, so that tradition is short-lived.
4. Neighbor friends.
It’s definitely a freshman thing, but I miss when I was friends with my hallmates. I live with mine now, but I couldn’t tell you the name of one of my neighbors in Campus Town.
5. Seeing people.
It’s sad to see campus so dead. I miss seeing strangers talk with their friends, smiling as they walk back to their dorm from class, and just seeing people in general. The pandemic sucks.
