Valentine’s Day is nearly here, so what better time to check your compatibility with other zodiac signs! A love language is how you prefer to receive love from others. The five love language categories include Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. Below is a breakdown of what each water, fire, earth, and air sign favors for their “love language”:

Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, & Pisces)

Water signs are the romantics, who are invested in true love and sentiment. They are very sensitive and in-tune with their emotions, and love to be nurtured. Water signs lead their lives from their heart and don’t tend to overthink things; logic and reason are second to their emotions. Water signs are very passionate lovers and appreciate romantic gestures such as Receiving Gifts and hearing Words of Affirmation. Whether it’s that piece of jewelry they’ve always wanted, or a hand-written poem that describes all the reasons why they love them, a partner of a Water Sign can best express their love to them through empathy. But, it’s important to remember that Water Signs feel everything at a stronger degree than other signs (both good and bad emotions) and they can easily become overwhelmed or burnt out. The simplest way to show you love a Water Sign is to remind them that they are special with a small gift or kind words, and to take care of them for a change. Bring them breakfast in bed or surprise them with a reservation at their favorite restaurant.

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, & Sagittarius)

Lovers of adventure and spontaneity, it’s not a surprise that fire signs enjoy spending Quality Time with their partners as well as share Physical Touch. Whether it’s getting a group of friends together to go on a hike or hitting the road for a weekend getaway to spend some alone time, Fire Signs will always make the most of the moment. Don’t be fooled though – as much as they love connection, they also value independence and not being tied down, so don’t expect a Fire Sign to give up their dreams or base their identity off of anyone or anything else. Both Quality Time and Physical Touch are tentative and can happen anywhere, which allows Fire Signs to express their love for others while still loving themselves and staying on the go. If you’re partners or seeking a relationship with a Fire Sign this Valentine’s Day, consider an outdoor date that you can do in winter weather, such as skiing or ice skating.

Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius)

Air Signs dream big and set major goals with the purpose to make the world a better place. Their eyes will light up when they’re talking about something they’re passionate about. Air Signs are very sociable and love to spend time with family and friends (and their partner). They could talk for hours about all of the dreams they have, and could always use an ear to listen to them by spending Quality Time together, and Words of Affirmation to remind them that all of their efforts and achievements are inspirational and worthwhile. Always be honest with Air Signs and give them adequate feedback, because they are always striving to do and be better. Sometimes though, they can get too serious and get caught up in the daily stresses of life. Air Signs value being able to “live and let live” and have a “go with the flow” mentality, so helping them regain that mindset is a way to support their love language. Plan a surprise vacation to their favorite destination to help them unwind and relax, or take them for a night out so you can spend some time together, and they can exercise their social personalities and really get back into their element by forgetting their worries and having some fun.

Earth Signs (Capricorn, Taurus, & Virgo)

Earth Signs, like their name, are very down-to-Earth and grounded. They don’t tend to have their “head in the clouds” and like to collect practical, material things, which is why Receiving Gifts is one of their love languages. They appreciate being able to use a present to assist in a project or endeavor they’ve undertaken, as Earth Signs are very motivated and hard-working. They also like to focus on things that are real and tangible, that they can see with their own eyes and feel with their own hands. Earth Signs highly value Acts of Service as well, which can help take the load off of their busy schedules and provides them with a rare amount of downtime. Earth Signs are very artistic as well, and like to take time when they can to start new creative works. A great date idea for an Earth Sign is to surprise them with a home cooked meal, sign you both up for a painting class, or to help them tackle that house project that they just never had time for.

This is just what the zodiac signs tend to have as their love language, but there are so many quizzes you can take online to find out for sure. So if you want to know what your partner’s ideal love language is, or just want to get to know yourself better, taking a quiz is the perfect solution! And if you are single this Valentine’s Day or just haven’t met the right match yet no matter how many love language tests you’ve taken, just remember what music, fashion, and entertainment icon Cher said: “Anyone who’s a great kisser I’m always interested in.”

Happy Valentine’s Day!
