Ever since the faithful day that my 10-year-old Barnes & Noble Nook E-Reader stopped charging, I have been looking for a new e-reader. I know many people love the touch and feel of a brand new book, and trust me I do too, but an e-reader can be so useful. I got the Kindle Paperwhite and I’m so surprised at how many things I can actually do with it. E-Readers are also great for those that are looking for a more environmentally friendly way to read! Not sold just yet? Here are some more reasons I love my e-reader.

It’s Portable & Eco-Friendly

An average book has several hundreds of paper pages. If you read about three books a month on an e-reader, you can save hundreds of pages! So if you are looking to become more environmentally conscious, an e-reader is the best way for you to enjoy this hobby. E-readers are also super portable! I can toss my Kindle in my purse and not have to worry about it taking up any space.

It’s Great for School Textbooks

You can send your textbooks to your e-reader. Yep, you heard me right: you literally have no excuse to not do the assigned reading anymore. Most e-readers also allow you to take notes and highlight right on the page. My Kindle even creates a folder of my highlights that I can send to my email and print off! It’s super convenient for students that are constantly on the go like me. Unlike your laptop or phone, you don’t have to worry about your e-reader losing power or needing to be charged mid-day. Most e-readers have a battery life of close to three weeks now!

It Features Library Loans

Most libraries have virtual libraries nowadays and you can literally check out books and have them sent straight to your e-reader. My library allows me to put books on hold and when they become available, they are sent directly to my Kindle! Once the library loan is up, it is sent right back, so you don’t have to worry about fines. The storage capacity of an e-reader is amazing too, I have close to 100 books on my Kindle and still have plenty of storage left.

Go and buy an e-reader now; it’s such a good investment for you and the environment. The Kindle Paperwhite is on sale and comes with three months of Kindle Unlimited free! The portability, long battery life and an endless supply of books at your fingertips should excite you! Long story short, getting an e-reader is a novel idea (See what I did there?) Happy reading, collegiates!

She is always smiling with a kombucha in her hand & blasting her multiple Céline Dion CD's in her car because duh, the radio can't beat Céline Dion. On any given day she will gladly talk your ear off about Grey's Anatomy, stronger background checks for gun purchases and why immigrants are some of the most important members of our society.
