Now that we’re all stuck inside most of the time, sweats have become a staple for a college student’s closet. I have had my fair share of days wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt no matter where I was going. However, nowadays we don’t have to look like total slobs when we leave the house in sweats. We can have some flare to our comfortable outfits that fit us in all the right places.

These suggestions come from my own personal stock of sweats, and ever since quarantine began in March, I have accumulated quite a selection for any occasion. My go-to pair of sweatpants come from Brandy Melville, an absolute gold mine of mid priced sweats that last long and come in a variety of colors. My personal favorites are the Rosa sweats, which I suggest be your first purchase if you have never bought anything from Brandy Melville before. This particular pair is soft on the inside and outside, and come in gray, dark gray and a couple other colors. The interesting part about Brandy Melville is that their sweatpants come in a variety of materials and aren’t all the same. If you are looking for a more sturdy pair to wear, I would look into the more colorful options on the site. These are usually the ones that are less soft and more pant-like. No matter what option you choose from Brandy Melville, it shouldn’t disappoint. My only criticism is that it is a one-size-fits-all brand for the most part, but I have found that my friends of all body types have been comfortable in their sweatpants.

When it comes to sweatshirts, I found one of my favorite options on Amazon! Yes, Amazon of all places. This started when I was searching for an all-white sweatshirt to tie-dye when that was something that everyone seemed to be doing over the summer. I found a white sweatshirt, and to my surprise, it was big, comfy, and fairly priced. Hanes plain sweatshirts are my absolute favorite now, and I always order them from Amazon. Unless a color is sold out, they have almost any color you could want to wear with a pair of sweatpants or even jeans. These options go for both hooded and crewneck sweatshirts (I prefer the crewnecks, and usually order a size large).

No matter what you’re comfortable in, a good pair of sweatpants and a durable sweatshirt are always essential for a college wardrobe. My preferences are based in comfort, affordability and a vast amount of options. Looking good is just as important as feeling good, and putting comfort at the forefront of your wardrobe is always important.
