Female Artists Win Big at the Grammys

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

These artists may have won physical awards in recognition for their music from the past year, but in reality, these artists win big every day. Their fans show their support by streaming their music daily.

Beyoncé

Year after year, Beyoncé never disappoints. Whether it is a performance, a collaboration, or a brand-new album, she will always have something that will truly “WOW” everyone out there. If you say you don’t love Queen B, stop lying to yourself and put “Love on Top” on full blast. Loving her older music still counts, ya know! Adding four new awards to her collection, Beyoncé broke the record for the most decorated female artist in Grammy’s history, and now has a total of 28 Grammy awards. She was awarded Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, as well as Best R&B Performance. We can only hope that her winning streak and her music will continue to empower all of us to be the true #queen that we know we are.

Taylor Swift

All night, Taylor Swift sat patiently in her seat, applauding those who were able to take home an award. She was nominated for six Grammys in multiple categories relating to her Folklore album, as well as her song “Beautiful Ghosts” for the movie, Cats. When her time to win finally came, holding back tears, Swift and her team stepped up onto the stage and accepted their Grammy for Album of the Year for Folklore. You could see the pure joy in Swift’s eyes. She was also able to set a record as the first female in Grammy history to bring home the award for Album of the Year, for the third time.

Dua Lipa

Over the last couple of years, Dua Lipa has been on the rise. No matter who you are, whether you want to admit it or not, you can’t help but move a little bit when a Dua Lipa song comes on. The beat, the lyrics, everything about her songs will put a smile on your face. Dua Lipa won Best Pop Vocal Album. There is no denying that she deserved it and it is only right that her success continues.

Billie Eilish

One of the things that is most admirable about Billie Eilish is the way that she is purely herself. She puts her story out in the world for everyone to hear because Eilish knows that her story may be able to truly help someone. Her music shows her own unique self, and that deserves all the applause in the world. Billie Eilish won two Grammys in recognition for her outstanding work through the last year. She was awarded Record of the Year for her song “Everything I Wanted” as well as Song Written for Visual Media for “No Time to Die.”

Megan Thee Stallion

If you ever need a jam or something to completely clear your head and remind yourself that you are the best there ever was, put on any Megan Thee Stallion song because she will remind you of just that. She won three very well-deserved Grammys, and each time she accepted one, she was speechless. The awards included, Best Pop Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Savage,” and Best New Artist.

These artists are only a few of the phenomenal women that were awarded Grammys. No matter how many wins or how many awards they earn, it could never amount to the empowerment and pure love that goes into the music they make.
