TikTok just has a way of taking things and making people obsessed with them. A lot of the time it doesn’t make any sense or is completely overhyped, but this time, I think they hit the nail on the head. A bowl of baked oats can be anywhere from a healthy breakfast to a decadent dessert, but no matter how you make it, it’s going to taste amazing. And the best part is that you’ll find most of the ingredients right in your home. Most recipes require the same basic ingredients with a few alterations for flavor. So here are three recipes to get you started!

Baked Banana Bread Oats (1 serving)

 Here’s what you’ll need:

1/2 cup  oats (instant or rolled)

1 banana

2/3 cup milk of choice

1 egg white or 1 tbsp chia seeds

1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder

1 tsp baking powder

Pinch of salt

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp peanut butter (optional)

Chocolate Oat Cake (1 serving)

1/2 cup of oats (instant or rolled)

1/2 banana

2/3 cup  milk of choice

1 tbsp cocoa powder

1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder (optional)

1 tsp baking powder

Pinch of salt

Chocolate chips

Blueberry Baked Oatmeal (1 serving)

2/3 cup of oats (instant or rolled)

1 banana

2/3 cup  milk of choice

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp nut butter of choice

1/3 cup berries (use more or less to your taste)

1 tbsp maple syrup

Now, to make baked oatmeal, you have the choice of either blending the ingredients together or simply mixing them. If you want the finished product to resemble a cake as much as possible, you’re better off blending all the ingredients for a smooth consistency that will bake into a finer texture. If you like oatmeal in its natural form, then it’s only necessary to mix the ingredients by hand. And if you really like oatmeal, I would recommend using rolled oats instead of instant. First, mash your banana in a mixing bowl and then mix in the oats. Add your milk, which can be any kind you want (I think almond milk tastes the best!). Then add the vanilla protein for sweetness and cinnamon for complex flavor.  Next, add the peanut butter for even more protein, which will also make the meal more filling. Adding the baking powder next will help it rise in the oven like actual banana bread. The egg whites or chia seeds will both make your oatmeal fluffier, but if you don’t want to add either, it’s not detrimental to the recipe. Sprinkle in a few chocolate chips for some fun and add a dash of salt (actually do this, it makes a difference!), and bake in an oven save dish at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-30 minutes.

Try all the recipes, I promise you’ll at least like one! And if you seriously hate oatmeal, try blending all the ingredients first. It’s like eating a cake for breakfast without regret or the sugar crash at noon!
