This week HerCampus Akron has chosen to get a little personal with some on-campus organizations! I have chosen to interview The University of Akron’s Student Social Work League. I interviewed the secretary of the organization, Tristen Cain.

The Student Social Work League is about the development of future social workers that wish to network with partners and organizations in the community to build relationships and help promote the readiness of future social workers. Anyone who is a pre-social work major or social work major is encouraged to join. However, SSWL is open to any undergraduate at the University of Akron. Tristan chose to join this organization because they wanted to further my knowledge and education regarding social work and network with other like-minded professionals. Tristan’s favorite part of being a member is the networking, support, and knowledge that comes from attending the meetings.

To learn more about this organization, you can follow them on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook! You can also sign up for their weekly email, studentsocialwork@zips.uakron.edu and find them on RooConnect!

Emily Janikowski, otherwise known as Em, can be found usually lurking in the depths of the Polsky building as a writing tutor, and when she isn't there, she is curled up in bed binge watching Law & Order SVU. Her passion lies in changing the world, and she hopes to accomplish this through majoring in social work.
