Attention to coffee lovers, we have a quick question. Have you heard of Bored Coffee? Yeah, this is still new to us too. As college students at Susquehanna University, we are used to getting coffee from our school’s Starbucks or coffee from Scholarly Grounds. However, that is going to change for some of us seniors. Yeah, we will always have coffee shops and places that sell coffee, but it might be time to start making our own if we have not started.

We really liked the unique name of Bored Coffee. When we first heard about it from a friend, we wanted to know more. It is a new coffee startup, and we were able to reach out to the owners. This is what we learned.

Tell us about your startup.

Our start-up is an online coffee company called “The Boring Coffee Company.” We specialize in providing high-quality, everyday coffee blends that are perfect for those who prefer a simple and no-fuss drinking experience. Our aim is to help people start their day right with a fresh cup of coffee that is both affordable and delicious. We currently offer a range of coffee blends that cater to different taste preferences, and we are constantly working to improve and expand our product offerings.

Who is part of your team? What are your roles?

I would like to describe our team as having three owners: A.J, who specializes in managing the business knowledge side of things; John, responsible for developing and managing our business-to-business sales; and Josh, who holds dual responsibilities as our head of marketing and social media manager.

What inspired the name of your company?

There are often unique stories behind the naming of a company, and ours is no exception. We wanted our brand name to be memorable and to convey a sense of honesty and simplicity. When we launched the company, we realized that many consumers were drawn towards over-complicated, gimmicky coffee products, which made us want to offer a refreshing contrast. Ultimately, we decided on “The Boring Coffee Company” as our name because we see ourselves as the antithesis of the flashy, trend-driven coffee brands that dominate the market. To us, “boring” represents a more grounded, reliable approach to coffee that we believe will resonate with people who value quality over hype.

Why did you create this start-up? Why coffee?

Our company, “The Boring Coffee Company,” was founded with the belief that there is a real demand for quality coffee in the marketplace that is not only authentic and simple but also, affordable. We saw a need for a coffee brand that focused on the product’s inherent qualities instead of hiding behind flashy packaging or complicated brewing methods. Our brand represents the antithesis of the overly complex and highly marketed coffee brands that are currently dominating the market. We started this company to provide high-quality coffee that meets the demand of customers who are looking for a simpler product that is genuinely delicious.

As for why we chose coffee specifically, it is simply because we love coffee. Our passion for coffee has been the driving force behind our brand. We love the taste and aroma of a well-roasted coffee bean and the comfort that a warm cup of coffee can bring. We view coffee as a product that can genuinely enhance people’s lives, and we want our brand to be part of that experience. In summary, we started “The Boring Coffee Company” to offer our customers the best of what we believe coffee can be: simple, affordable, and genuine.

What is the process behind developing your company?

The process behind “The Boring Coffee Company” involves roasting coffee beans to order, ensuring freshness and quality, and shipping the coffee straight to the customer. This process eliminates the need for coffee to be stored for extended periods of time, ensuring that it has the freshest taste possible. Through this process, the company is committed to delivering a high-quality brand of coffee while also ensuring customer satisfaction.

How did you create some of your unique blends?

Our unique blends were created through a process of [a] careful selection of high-quality beans from different regions while aligning with the preferences of our customers and market trends.

What are your personal favorite coffee blends from your startup?
  • French Vanilla
  • Mocha
  • Peru
In your opinion, what is the coolest product you have?

The flavored coffee sample pack is an exciting product. It offers a variety of unique and delicious flavors, allowing customers to try different types of coffee without committing to one specific flavor. Additionally, the sample pack is an excellent gift idea for coffee lovers, providing a unique and thoughtful present that they are sure to enjoy.

What is your company goal by the end of the year?

By the end of the year, we aim to achieve a customer base of 10,000 and further enhance the reach of our brand.

I hope you enjoyed this fun interview with Bored Coffee. If you want to try out some of the coffee that has been mentioned, check out their website here! You can also check them out on Facebook and Instagram to keep updated on the company and the new products to come.
