The 65th annual Grammys just occurred on Sunday, February 5th 2023. In case you don’t know, the Grammy’s honor music and musicians throughout the year for example “Best Album of the Year” etc. This year, the Grammy’s were hosted by Trevor Noah, who is a comedian, actor, writer, and was the host of the television show “The Daily Show.”

Drama involving Harry styles

Harry Styles is receiving backlash for saying, “this doesn’t happen to people like me very often” during his acceptance speech for “Album of the Year” with his album Harry’s House. Also reportedly during his speech someone brought back time when Kanye yelled at Taylor that Beyonce should’ve won an award by yelling at Harry to, “get off the stage” and that, “Beyonce should’ve won.” This started an outrage on Twitter where people are fighting over whether or not Beyonce should’ve won. Apparently Taylor Swift showed her support to Harry Styles during the event. This started Taylor and Harry fans to go crazy, the fact that the two ex’s were conversing. There are also rumors that Harry gave Taylor a note, but this is all just speculation.

Kim Petras

Kim Petras became the first Trans Woman to win a Grammy. She won the Grammy for best pop duo performance alongside Sam Smith for their song “Unholy”. She thanked past transgender legends for paving the way, allowing her to win this award. She spoke about how she was thankful for Madonna, who is an LGBTQ+ advocate. This is a huge step for the transgender community.

beyonce

Beyonce became the most decorated Grammy winner, as she has won 32 Grammys. She was awarded four Grammy’s this year: one for Best Dance/Electric Album, Best R&B Song, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best Dance Recording. During one of her acceptance speeches, Beyonce thanked her late Uncle Johnny who reportedly died of AIDs and the queer community, which inspired her album Renaissance.

Fashion

The Grammys is about the music but every awards show would be boring if everyone wore something boring or basic. This year at the Grammy’s the Celebs turned it out. Here is a list of my favorites

1. adele

This dress is just the most sultry and delicious red velvet. I love the ruffles at the top because they are placed so well to accent her body and the crushed red velvet doesn’t look cheap, it looks luxurious. I love how the dress has a belt to accentuate her waist, the bust of the dress is cut ever so perfectly, and how the skirt billows out, but not too much. Absolutely gorgeous.

2. taylor swift

This look just reminds me of the night sky with the deep blue color and the bedazzled gems scattered around it. I actually enjoy that this is a two piece, because it just works for her so well. It reminds me of the Mockingjay dress designs from the Hunger Games. Stunning.

3. Anoushka shankar

This dress is just stunning. It screams spring and regalness. The sheer sleeves, the bust, and the skirt are just gorgeous. I love the pop of the bright colors from the dress. It reminds me of a bedazzled more bright version of Taylor Swifts dress from the Grammys in 2021.

4. coco jones

Dripping gold goddess realness! The high slit on the long skirt mixed with the 1950s inspired bust line is just to die for. The sequins and beads are arranged to give her shape and are placed meticulously. It is such a beautiful color on her and my jaw dropped when I saw this outfit.

Honorable mentions: Doja Cat and Muni Long!

Overall, the Grammy’s this year has been… eventful! Lots of drama and lots of break throughs!
