Days of tears and sad playlist are not for you. Follow this schedule to get out of the dumps and get you back on top.

Before I start, I want to share that everyone feels differently. Your feelings are completely valid no matter what the situation is; if you want to lay on the ground and cry, then lay on the ground and cry. I am not here to tell you how to feel but I want to help if you want help. If you are ready to get over your breakup, please continue reading.

Step one: take a shower

I don’t mean just any type of shower. I mean a long shower, with shaving, conditioning, tanning and moisturizing. The whole thing. The whole shower experience is upgraded if you bring in your speaker. Play the music loud, sing and dance along. This is out with the old self and in with the new, and it will help you feel more confident and prepared for the day.

Step two: put down the phone

Everything that you need will be there when you are mentally ready to pick it up. I know I sound like your mom, but it will help. Detach yourself from the old pictures, texts and memories. Plug the phone in and get up.

Step Three: Run Some errands at a new store

Travel to somewhere new that does not remind you of your ex. Try a new mall, grocery store and restaurant. This way you can start creating your own memories for yourself and have an independent adventure. There will be nothing that reminds you of him in a new location.

Step Four: Have a Girl’s Night

Your friends will have your back and would love to eat a full tub of icing and watch movies with you. This was something that I found really helpful. I was able to distract myself with laughs and fun memories. My friends were able to bring back a smile and keep my spirits high. Some of my personal favorite movies are The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and Mean Girls.

Step Five: Work Out

This is another great way to feel better. Some of my favorite workouts are yoga, an easy jog and core workouts. There are many videos to help the workout plan on YouTube. Some of my favorite channels are Chloe Ting and MadFit. It is a good thing to sweat it out and make your body move. This can make you feel more confident and sleep better. There is no need to go crazy, lift and run a lot right off the bat, but it is important to move your body.

But most importantly, do whatever makes you feel good and confident. These times can sometimes be hard, so make sure you are gentle and treat yourself. Keep smiling and you will feel better in a short amount of time! Turn off the sad music and get yourself back on top!
