Fun, Festive, Food for the Holiday

Thanksgiving is approaching, which means it is time to prepare meals, decorate, and plan holiday-themed events. With so many options for what to bring to eat, it can be difficult to choose just one. In this article, I will share how I planned an awesome “Friendsgiving” celebration before I went on Fall Break.

My roommates and I, along with a few friends, decided to plan a small, but good-sized affordable “Friendsgiving”. This was completed with folding tables, orange and yellow tablecloths, and matching silverware that we bought at the dollar store. Next, we planned for what each of us was going to make to eat. I suggested bringing desserts, so I bought a pumpkin pie and Pillsbury Hawaiian croissants. My roommates made mashed potatoes, pepperoni cheese bread, Broccoli casserole, stuffing, and corn. However, because we have an apartment, and kitchen space is limited to us, we decided to ask our neighbors for help cooking our turkey.

Our neighbors were happy to help us in preparing our turkey, so we thawed it for a few days, and were able to find a recipe for a well-seasoned turkey for them to follow. We invited them to our party, and they decided to bring a sweet potato casserole and an apple pie. These were great additions to our food list. Most of the recipes we found were easy to follow and searching online influenced us to pick the ones with the most votes and stars. Since this is happening in our cute, yet space-limited apartment, we had to move our furniture upstairs so we could lay out our folding tables and present the food.

To make the night even more exciting, we came up with the idea of giving awards and presenting them to our guests. We went with the theme of “Most Likely To…” and it was really fun. This was a great way to celebrate with friends before going on break and celebrating Thanksgiving with family. I highly recommend planning a “Friendsgiving” celebration next year!
