Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

If you love romance, celebrity gossip, and tears falling from your eyes, this book is for you. The protagonist Evelyn Hugo is a Hollywood actress from the 50s to 80s. The astonishing fact is that she was married to seven men. No one knows the story behind this. However, Monica, an amateur journalist was asked to write a story about her mysterious life. The question that every writer has is why she is the one that was picked? Why did it had to be Monica?

Also, many Taylor Swift references in the book, try to find them when you are reading!

Book Lovers

If you are looking for an easy, heartwarming, romance book, this is perfect!

Nora Stephens is like us hopeless-romantics, she reads all the romance books, she knows every single trope: enemies to lovers, one bed, the fake dating, second chance trope and so one. However, she just knows that she is not like those cutesy characters that fits into tropes.

Nora is dragged by her sister to visit Sunshine Falls, a small town in North Carolina. In the rural town, she meets Charlie Lastra — a town guy just like the trope, a city girl falling for a small town guy. Nora is a workaholic, she loves New York, the city life. Can she give up her life for the love of her life?

LaST Night At The Telegraph Club

One of the best sapphic story ever! It’s a coming of age story, women in STEM, and sapphic, what could be better than this?

This is a historical fiction set In 1950s, seventeen-year-old Lily Hu living in San Francisco, Chinese town. The town is filled with racism and homophobia, a dangerous time to be queer and asian.

Going to the lesbian bar “Telegraph Club”, hanging out with her friends, would she be able to figure out what she wants to be and who she wants to be with?

My Dark Vanessa

(Be sure to look up trigger warnings!)

The most disturbing, unsettling and uncomfortable book that I have read this year, 2022. The complexity of what grooming is actually, has been portrayed perfectly.

A 15-year-old student, Vanessa falls in “love” with her fourty-two year old english teacher, Jacob Strane. Vanessa thinks their love was real, unlike what others say. Even when she gets older, she claims she wasn’t “groomed”. The book looks at the events from Vanessa’s point of view, making her relationship with Jacob, written in a beautiful way.

Is there a correct way to depict teacher-student relationship? This question will linger in your mind for a long time.
