5 Ways to turn your fall wardrobe into a fall one

Cold weather is here and here to stay. As you look for your wardrobe in preparation to create new outfits, don’t immediately think that you must buy a whole new closet. Rather, think of how you can use the clothes in your existing wardrobe and transform the summer essentials into autumn outfits that will bring the heat to keep you warm. Here are some ideas to bring out your closet’s inner transformer.

  1. Layer those tank tops

Now, I know you have at least one of those Y2K esc tank tops that you loved to live in during summer. Instead of throwing them out, find a long sleeve top that goes with it to layer under the tank top. This will not only keep you from tossing the tank aside, but it will bring texture to the outfit and elevate it to make it more interesting.

  1. Tights, tights, tights

If you look at your closet and see a sea of miniskirts, don’t freak out and throw them out, put on some tights and add some leg warmers and you’ll be set for fall. Not only is this an extremely easy way to be warm, but it also reduces waste, and you’ll look great in doing so.

  1. Socks and heels

Hear me out on this one, I promise it’s not as bad as you might instantly think. A lot of people have “summer shoes”, small, strappy shoes that don’t cover as much of your foot as you might desire for colder weather. Well, rather than discarding them in search of “fall shoes”, pair them with a sock. Yes, this might be considered a sin in the fashion world, but if you’re cool with breaking the unspoken rules and looking chic while doing it, be sure to try the sock and heel combo.

  1. Skirts over pants

Okay so since I probably already lost the people who aren’t willing to be experimental, let’s go further into the controversial clothing choices. Skirts/dresses over pants. This is one way to instantly elevate your style and do something unexpected. By using clothes in this way, you’re sure to stay warm due to all the layers and it gives you an interesting silhouette and different textures. And who knows, you might be headlining a new trend.

  1. Skirts with a side of dresses

Along the same lines of the pants and skirts, we have the skirt and dress. This is a great way to reuse multiple articles of clothing that you might have accumulated during summer. I feel like this is a bit less controversial than the pants and skirt combo, but it is still not done that often, so you’ll be sure to stand out. Not only is this a great way to get use out of multiple items, but it’s also a great way to easily create an interesting outfit and stay ahead of the trends.

Overall, fall is a great season to be experimental with your fashion choices. Instead of throwing out or getting rid of your summer outfit in search for a fall one, look inside your existing closet and see a world of new opportunities.

Hi, I'm Tori. My pronouns are she/they. I love to read and write and use both of those hobbies to escape for a little while. My favorite book series are "The Folk of the Air" and "Caraval". I also love to listen to music, basically 24/7. A few of my favorites are Lana del Rey, She Wants Revenge, and Kinneret. I always keep up to date on the fashion trends and what's going on on the internet. I prefer cats over dogs and I think that chocolate is kind of overrated.
