It’s time for me to rank — based on my own tastes and opinion —  Halloween candy. With Halloween coming up soon, it’s time that the candy aisles in Walmart and CVS start to fill up and we think about the crucial question; which candy is the best candy?

Before I rank some of the most well known candies around the world, I have some honorable mentions. Two pieces of candy that I think deserve a little spotlight include Sugar Babies and Zagnut bars. For those of you that don’t know what either or those two things are, I recommend you try them at least once.

Starting with the classics, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Kit Kats tie for ranking the highest on my list of the best classic chocolate Halloween candy. It’s a decent chocolate good filling for any mood or feeling, and they are easy to eat. However, there are five other classic chocolate candy bars that I think deserve to be scrutinized. Snickers is a solid choice when thinking about crowd favorites. It has the nuts, it has the caramel, it has the nougat part. It has all it needs, no need to spice things up. Butterfingers are like the cheaper version of Zagnut bars. To me, Butterfingers are too sticky and fall apart when you start eating them. Twix is one of the candy bars that I grew up on. However, as I got older, my taste buds have evolved and Twix is simply just not exciting anymore. The two other classic chocolate bars that I believe deserve the bottom slots include Hershey chocolate bar and 3 Musketeers. These are just not it. When it comes to candy, these are not as satisfactory as the above mentioned candy bars.

Now onto the bite size candies: Charleston Chew, Milk Duds, Rolos, M&M’s. I’m a sucker for the oldie candies so Charleston Chew and Milk Duds just hit the spot. Rolos are not that bad, not that good. M&Ms are just not good. If I wanted to eat plain chocolate, I would eat a Hershey chocolate bar.

Now my all time favorite, the sours. I’m not a chocolate kind of girl. I like candy to be bitter. Sour Patch Kids Watermelon hails as the greatest of all time. However, standard Sour Patch Kids are nasty. Let’s all be honest here, the pink and red Starburst are the only ones actually being eaten and enjoyed. I always look for the all red pack when I go to the store in need of Starbursts. When I can’t find that, I’ll just get Sour Patch Watermelon. Skittles aren’t bad for a quick fix but if I am in the mood for sour candy, I’m not really grabbing Skittles. They don’t do enough for me. Lastly, Sweetarts. Just by the look, I already know that I don’t want them. To me, they look like chalk, not candy.

This is just my own opinion based on purely my own taste buds. I am not a candy or chocolate expert. There are still candies and chocolate bars that I am still finding. For example, I purposely didn’t rank any mint based candy or chocolates because I think mint only deserves to be toothpaste.
