Once again, Jennifer Lawrence’s hilarious lack of filter has proved that, despite the fact that we have not starred in a multi-million dollar movie franchise nor do we regularly wear Dior couture on the red carpet, J-Law is still just like us.
In the cover story for the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the Joy actress admitted to changing her mind about her Golden Globes dress pick last minute for a reason we can all get behind: Aunt Flo would be accompanying her on the red carpet.
“That was my Plan B dress,” she told the magazine. “Plan A was a dress that I couldn’t wear because awards season is synced with my menstrual cycle, and it has been for years.”
Jennifer told Harper’s Bazaar that she instead opted for the old-Hollywood-esque red Dior cutout dress she actually ended up wearing because of its loose, bloat-proof front. Apparently, the other dress was way tight—and let’s be real: no one is about that body-con lifestyle during that time of the month. Jennifer put it best, saying, “I’m not going to suck in my uterus. I don’t have to do that.” We feel you, girl. We’re sure the dress’s bright red hue was probably majorly comforting too, just in case of any, erm, emergencies.
Not that we could have guessed that she was surfing the crimson tide—J-Law looked flawless as always accepting her Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy or musical. Note to self: side cutouts are always the way to go when the period struggle becomes all too real. You go girl.
