This past year has been a very tough one to deal with. Nomatter what your political views are, that’s not the only thing that truly divided us this year. Many other events appalled us, disgusted us, but also showed us what it means to be human, and that’s what really matters at the end of the day.

Orlando, June 12, 2016, Bastille Day, Nice, France, July 14, 2016, German Marketplace, December 20, 2016, everything in Allepo, and many others: we saw the slaughtering of dozens of undeserving and innocent individuals, in which nothing has yet to be done to stop anything else like this from happening. However, these events, as tragic as they are, make us appreciative for our own lives, the people that surround us, and to love everyone a little extra every single day.

Everything in the 2016 election: no matter what difference in opinion you may have with anyone else, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I get that. However, what I learned from this past year is to separate myself from the people in my life who force their opinion on me without asking, and those who value my time enough not to discuss it unless asked on it in advance. Cleanse yourself of the people who give you doubt, the ones who make you feel uncomfortable, and the ones who don’t value your opinions.

Along with these awful attacks, we have seen our share of beloved celebrities, icons, and many more have their lives taken away all too soon by various illnesses, or just taken away all too soon (ahem… Alan Rickman).

Death: It happens. Although all who have died this past year will be missed, we have to understand that it is a part of life. Everyone’s biological clock is ticking, and it just happened to be time for those specific individuals to pass on. However, we now know that there’s going to be one hell of a party up there when we eventually cross that same path.

In 2017, I hope that the masses can join together in a way that prevents events like this from happening. Natural death is one thing, but the mass destruction of humanity is quite another. I hope that the new presidency doesn’t throw us into mass hysteria, as many think that it will.

Overall, 2017…

Just don’t take away Betty White.
