Every girl can relate to the stressful decision of what they should or should not pack for school breaks. It can take as much as one hour or possibly even two to decide what you will need for every day of break. You need to prepare for warm weather, cold weather, comfortable outfits for lounging, cute outfits for out on the town and possibly evening outfits for when you go out with your girls (or boy). Two hours later and your whole apartment or dorm room is filled with bags, boxes and totes filled to the brim with clothes and shoes for every possible scenario. Your room is beginning to look like a tornado hit Morgantown and it only hit your bedroom. So, how can you alleviate this problem and make packing easier and less stressful for you every holiday break?

It’s simple. You need to bring versatile pieces that you can transform into different arrays of outfits! First, begin by creating five individual outfits that you cannot go home without packing. Make sure the outfits include pieces like a casual dress that can be dressed up easily, boots, wedges, leggings, a cute bomber jacket or open knit cardigan, any versatile shirt(s), and accessories. From there, you can create five separate outfits from as little as six pieces!

By day you can be wearing a simple skater skirt dress with a cargo or denim jacket with a pair of cute leather boots and wear that dress again one evening and completely transform it to a dressier outfit. You can do this by adding heels or wedges, eliminating the jacket, adding tons of accessories and adding a fancy clutch to tie the outfit together. If it is colder outside, you can always put your leggings under your dress too!

You can always spice up a plain outfit to make it an outfit you can wear out with friends, or for a date with that cutie you know from back home. Picking pieces that are versatile and can be easily layered or completely transformed to create a different ensemble are the pieces you need to focus on when packing. Do not worry about taking home everything in your closet, because the probability of you wearing half of those clothes are very low. This way if you lay out five outfits before packing and see the different ways they can mix and match, you can leave for fall break without the hassle of all those bags and not worried that you are leaving any important piece behind!
