5 Feelings You Will Catch While Watching The Pride Of West Virginia

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Football season is exciting for everyone.   It means football, tailgating, good food, good friends, and lots and lots of school spirit.  As a Mountaineer, game day is the best day of the week.  You get up, get your best Mountaineer gear on, head to a tailgate, and go to the game.  But one really important part of game day that you seriously cannot miss…the Pride of West Virginia’s pre-show.  Why?  Because you will experience these 5 feelings that you will want to always remember.

1.   Pride

This one might seem obvious, but pride is probably the first feeling you will experience.  As they run out on the field demonstrating such school spirit, with all eyes in the stadium radiating on them, school pride will overwhelm you.  It’s a great feeling to be a Mountaineer.

2.  Suspense

As the musicians place his or her instrument to their lips, the suspense will have you on the edge of your seat.  It’s hard to be patient when you know what you are about to experience.  We are all in for an emotional ride.

3.  Cold Chills

The moment when the first sound echoes through the stadium expect instant cold chills.  All of the excitement you have already experienced just keeps getting better.  Every thought exits your mind and you are focused on blue and gold.

4.  Blessed

The pre-game show is almost over now and you are currently feeling more than blessed.  You are blessed to have chosen such an amazing school with an amazing marching band and amazing people, and you just want to scream it to everyone.  This show will really give you something to be thankful for.

5.  Determined

At this point, the Pride has gotten you so determined as a Mountaineer.  You are ready to cheer on our team to victory.  You are impatiently waiting for kick-off and excitement is coursing through your veins.

While these 5 feelings are bound to hit you, there will be moments of “feeling confusion.”  You will be experiencing so many different feelings that literally all you can do is smile with excitement.  It is so great to be a Mountaineer and we are truly lucky to have the Pride of West Virginia to remind us of that.  Here’s to you, the Pride!

I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Growing up here I knew there was a possibility of going to West Virginia University my entire life. Although I decided to start my college career at the University of Kentucky, those country roads led me back to WVU in the spring of my sophomore year. This was also the point when I decided to establish myself as a Broadcast Journalist student. Since this point I have strived to become the best possible journalist I can be. I am currently working as a weekend reporter for WDTV-Channel 5 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Prior to receiving this position, I worked as an intern with WCHS-tv/FOX11, in the summer of 2014, where I learned critical editing, interviewing, writing, and speaking skills. I worked closely with anchors, reporters, editors, directors, producers, and even the web team. Aside from the television industry, I am the Campus Correspondent for the West Virginia University Chapter of the online entertainment magazine, Her Campus. Another position I currently hold is the Social Media Chair of WVU’s Radio Television Digital News Association Chapter. In the Fall of 2012, I became a sister of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, in which I held the position of ‘Big Sister Chairman.’ My other passions include horse back riding, scuba diving, being outdoors, and running. I am very adventurous and I try to stay well rounded. My goal in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of myself. My ultimate goal would be to earn a spot as a reporter/anchor for Fox News, New York. I plan to graduate in December of 2016 and look forward to my future.
