On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Inspired Outfits to Bring Out Your Inner “Mean Girl”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

As you may or may not know, Mean Girl’s ten-year anniversary is coming up on April 30th, and guess what? It’s on a Wednesday! And what do we do on Wednesdays? We wear pink, of course. So whether you want to be Regina, Gretchen, Karen, or Cady, here are some outfit ideas inspired by the characters!

Regina George

Regina is the Queen Bee, and she knows it. So put together an outfit that slays and instantly draws attention to you the minute you walk into the room. Remember what’s most important is the attitude: confidence! That’s Regina’s trademark… besides being, well, a Mean Girl

Gretchen Weiner

Gretchen always is put-together and has a classic prep twist to her wardrobe. Grab a simple, classic dress and pair it with some flats. Keep it simple and classic, and you’ve got yourself your own Gretchen Weiner outfit. Just remember to add some volume to your hair so it can be full of secrets, too!

Karen Smith

I couldn’t resist the parallel between this shirt and Karen’s “bedazzled K” scene, and I knew I had to design an outfit around this tee! Tuck the tee into the skater skirt, throw on some accessories, and you’re practically Karen! If you don’t have a shirt like this, that’s fine, really; Karen’s style was pretty basic, reflecting her thought pattern (no offense, doll!). Pair a basic skater and tee and you’ll be fine — throw in some weather forecasts for added effect.

Cady Heron

Cady (both pre- and post-plastic stage) is pretty down to earth and fairly simple in style. I felt like Toms definitely suit her personality since she lived in South Africa, and her life there was pretty philanthropic. Keep the look soft, feminine, and easy, and you’re Cady!

Tips:

* Don’t cut two holes in your shirt, even if you’re trying to channel your inner-Regina — really, please don’t!

* If you decide to bedazzle your chest like Karen, remember that the mirror is a REFLECTION, but if you’re all for backward letters then do it!

* Try not trash talk your friends. Mean Girls proves how shallow high school can be — or life in general. Your friends are your circle of safety and comfort; love them for who they are.

* And most importantly: Love yourself as you are and never change! (A lesson from our girl, Cady.)

Enjoy Mean Girl’s day and yes, you can sit with all of us here on the HCWPUNJ team!

Muah, love ya!
