Read, Watch, Listen: October 21, 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WM chapter.

With fall break in the rearview mirror, Read, Watch, Listen has returned with some entertainment recommendations. Check them out in between Homecoming festivities and Halloween fun!

Read:

  • Uncommon Type by Tom Hanks—Everyone’s favorite actor Tom Hanks has just released a collection of 17 short stories. While the stories vary across time and place, they have one unique theme: typewriters (which Hanks himself collects).
  • Turtles All the Way Down by John Green—This one is a bit of a cheat, as it came out over a week ago, but Turtles is easily one of the most anticipated books of the fall. Also, it’s John Green’s first novel since The Fault in Our Stars, and one of his most personal to date. I can’t wait to dive into this detective story!

Watch:

  • The Walking Dead—This popular TV show returns for its eighth season on Sunday, October 22 at 9pm. With zombies galore, it is sure to get you in the mood for Halloween. Watch it live to avoid spoilers the next day!
  • The Snowman—Fans of Jo Nesbo had high hopes for this film starring Michael Fassbender as detective Harry Hole. However, early reviews are marking this film as one of the worst of the year. If you are in the mood to laugh at something (or spark discussion) with your friends, check this one out!

Listen:

  • “Gorgeous” by Taylor Swift—Taylor Swift dropped a new song on Friday, and it seems like the reaction to it is more divisive than ever. Take a listen, then join in on the debate!
