Paperback Films: A List of Books Based Off Of Favorite Movies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Looking for something to do on those long car rides to your relatives house or while your stuck in the airport during Thanksgiving break? Well here are some books you should pick up, curl up, and stay up late reading because you surely wont be able to put them down!

If you like the movie The Notebook or No Strings Attached, or something with a romantic and light humor vibe, try reading Pushing the Limits. Most of Nicholas Sparks’ books have been turned into movies because the books are so popular. If romance is your forte, try reading some of the books that you have seen the movies of, such as Endless Love or A Walk to Remember. Books always have more details than the movies can contain!

If you’re a fan of any of the Cinderella Story movies try reading the book The Duff.

For those who aren’t as interested in romance, there are still plenty more books! Try: The King and Maxwell series if you watch the TV shows Bones or Revenge on a weekly basis.

Looking for something that is a little more fast paced? Enjoy the Bourne series movies or the Mission Impossible series movies? In that case, read a book from the Tucker Wayne series, also by James Rollins.

If you like the mystery and crime solving found in the TV shows Elementary, NCIS, or Sherlock, take a look at the Will Robbie or John Puller series written by David Baldacci.

Does treasure hunting peak your interest? Do you have National Treasure or Laura Croft on your Netflix que? Then try reading the Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase series by Andy McDermott.

If the behind-the-scenes life of the Washington D.C. elite entice you and you are addicted to Scandal, try reading the Camel Club series by David Baldacci.

If you enjoy a more fantastical genre, there are still books galore! The Sanguine series by James Rollins if you’re interested in the vampire theme or movies such as Twilight or the TV show The Vampire Diaries.

Addicted to Harry Potter? Wish there was more? Well there is! Try reading the Game of Thrones books (Or just reread Harry Potter for the hundredth time).

Do you watch Once Upon a Time or Lost? Then try reading the Sigma Force series by James Rollins.

As much as we love “Netflix and chill”, sometimes receding into the quiet of our own mind and creating a new world out of a book is just what we need to relax and escape reality. No matter what you like to watch, there is always a book out there for you!

Happy reading, collegeittes!
