‘Tis the season for love… -y, dovey movies and Nicholas Sparks is THE king. Sparks is a writer who has at least one of his books turned into a movie a year. Now, don’t get me wrong – I love reading and watching his books and movies as much as the next person; it’s just that this month it seems like it’s his time to shine.
So here are my top 5 Nicholas Sparks movies to watch with friends… or if you just want a good cry.
1. Safe Haven (2013)
Safe Haven is different than Sparks’ usual love story. Katie (Julianne Hough) meets
Alex (Josh Duhamel) while she is running away from her past, making this movie a little darker than his other films. In her new life, Katie becomes content, but her past relationship catches up with her and builds to a suspenseful ending.
2. The Last Song (2010)
The Last Song stars a young Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth (This is where their
relationship began!). Ronnie (Cyrus) goes to her father’s house for the summer where she meets Will (Hemsworth), and they start to fall for each other. Unbeknownst to the other person, they both have secrets that they are keeping from each other.
3. A Walk to Remember (2002)
A Walk to Remember is definitely a tearjerker. It takes the classic love story of bad boy Landon (Shane West) and goody-two-shoes girl (Mandy Moore) and adds a tragic twist to it that makes it hard to watch without crying… no matter how many times you watch it.
4. The Best of Me (2014)
The Best of Me is about high school sweethearts Dawson (James Marsden) and
Amanda (Michelle Monaghan) that end up meeting each other again after the death of a mutual friend. They have both gone their separate ways after an incident during their high school years but realize that they never forgot about each other.
5 .The Notebook (2004)
This movie is no doubt on the top of everyone’s list. It’s about young love that never fades.
Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams) fall in love but life (and family) has different
plans for them; but a chance meeting can change that.
So there you have it: my top 5 Nicholas Sparks movies to watch. And, as usual, the book is better than the movie (well, at least in my opinion).
Did yours make the list?
Happy crying :)
