To the Pet I Left at Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

We all have a pet that we love more than words and would do anything for, but sadly when it comes time for us to embark on another year of school, most of us are not allowed to bring along our four-legged best friends. They stay at home with the rest of the family and are probably so upset because you’re not there to give them their nighttime belly rubs. This is for the pet I left at home.

Hello my sweet puppers!

I miss you more than anything! I’m sorry I left you again but it’s college, and it’s important in the human world. I wish that I could bring you down here for a weekend . . . or the whole year, but my landlord would be mad and mom and dad probably wouldn’t like that I kidnapped you . . . or is it dognapped?

I hope life at home is treating you well. I know the doctors say you’re overweight but don’t listen to them. I promise the next time I see you I’ll give you all my love and many treats. Sometimes I get worried that no one is giving you attention or playing with you in the backyard, and that makes me sad because I would give anything to take a break from homework to play fetch.

I’m so glad I was able to see you over spring break; FaceTiming mom just to have her flip the phone toward you just wasn’t cutting it anymore.

In a few short months I’ll be home for a long time and then all my attention will be focused on you until I have to leave again for school . . . but you don’t need to worry about that right now. Right now all you need to focus on is how easy of a life you’re living and how much I miss you! Honestly, Em-bem, whenever I see you on mom, dad, or Gabby’s snap stories I get so happy because I know that they’re spending any free time they have with you.

I will see you soon Emily. Please don’t forget about me while I finish up these last few weeks of school!

Love,

Kasey

I love exploring the outdoors, writing, whales, and have a major sweet tooth for cheesecake! Volleyball and hockey are my favorite sports to play and watch. When it comes to writing, I love it. I truly enjoy being able to write articles and stories about topics people would enjoy reading.
