Awards season is upon us and with it a flurry of best and worst dressed lists, so we thought we’d contribute our opinions on the red carpet fashion, as well as the misses! The HC Western Ontario team weighs in on their favorites and the failures!
Best Dresseed: Lea Michelle
Sarah:Lea has definitely come a long way since the opening season of Glee. Her sculptural Versace gown screams out elegance! The thigh high slit is very sexy and gives her a chance to show off her great legs. Also, the soft gray tone of the dress complements her hair and skin tone, with a great choice of makeup to match!
Tish: I had almost given up hope in looking through the atrociously bland outfits worn at the SAG Awards until I spotted Leah Michelle! Can you say “Va va voom?” This outfit is perfectly accessorised and form flattering. Oh and on a side note, showing some leg definitely did not hurt. You go girl!
Krystyna: Lea Michele of Fox TV’s Glee looked amazing in her custom Versace dress at the SAG Awards this past Sunday. I can’t get over the form fitting bodice, the pseudo-sweetheart neckline (complete with one shoulder strap) and the daringly high slip! She looked fabulous head to toe. Her clutch and accessories go perfectly with her gown, right down to her pumps. Love this girl.

Best Dressed: Jane Krakowski
Raven: Jane Krakowski wore an Antonio Berardi dress and looked amazing! The dress gave her an awesome figure and the detailing on the bust is amazing!

Laura: My best dressed list for this year’s SAG awards is topped by an actress of the year’s most popular show; Modern Family. The beautiful Sofia Vergara stunned in Marchesa.

Best Dressed: Emily Blunt
Rida: Emily Blunt looked stunning at the SAG Awards in an Oscar De La Renta 2012 Resort collection gown. Her dress was beautiful and the slit added a little sex appeal! The color of the dress really complemented Emily’s skin and hair color and her make-up was flawless. All-in-all, a win for Emily Blunt!

Worst Dressed: Emma Stone
Tish: This, ladies and gents, is what I call the prom dress from hell! Such a shame because Emma Stone is such a beautiful girl and I’m sure most things would look lovely on her… with the exception of this number, however. Although it is not her fault of course, she rocked it as best as she could, but the shoes, bracelet, purse and earrings did not help this disastrous ensemble.

Worst Dressed: Jessica Chastain
Raven: Jessica Chastain is my pick for worst dressed. There were some ugly dresses on that red carpet but this was the most boring by far! Red carpet equals glamour, this dress does not!

Worst Dressed: Shailene Woodley
Sarah: Shailene Woodley’s floor length L’Wren Scott Spring 2012 gown just does not cut it. Isn’t it a little bit too early to be caught in a spring collection piece? The dress is a little bit too “mom-ish” and the baby blue backdrop with bursts of red clashes a bit too much for my liking.

Worst Dressed: Rose Byrne
Krystyna: If there are two things I hate, it’s a pantsuit and a romper – and this is the ultimate combination of the two. Rose Byrne, of the 2011 movies Bridesmaids and Insidious, ventured to the SAG Awards in a lace and sequins romper/pantsuit combination by Elie Saab that was, albeit bold, extremely unflattering. She reminds me of one of those men on stilts from an old school carnival. Kudos to her for taking a risk, but this look fell flat for me.
Laura: The worst dressed celebs were unquestionably lead by Rose Byrne’s horrible, lacy white pantsuit. Why she chose to wear pants is beyond me; what’s the point of attending an awards ceremony if you’re going to dress for the office?

Worst Dressed: Busy Philipps
Rida: In my opinion, Busy Philipps was by far the worst dressed. She was wearing a sheer blue floral gown by SIMONE by Katie Nehra that would have been perfect for the hippie awards! The dress was inappropriate for the awards and was unflattering, even if she was planning on going to the beach after!
