The 10 Joys of Reading Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

Reading week -the week where you can go home and be cared for by your parents, fed delicious homemade food and or simply relax for a bit before the dreaded return.

Speaking of reading week, here are 10 things we can all relate to from the week:

1. Assignments, essays and midterms are done! Yes there’s still things to be done, but you’re finished what’s needed to get done and now you can chill a bit.

2. OMG reading week is finally here! Finally after all of the hard work you put into meeting deadlines for the past month, you can finally take a break from school.

3. Yes time to catch up on sleep! You’re sleep-deprived, exhausted and braindead. You can finally hop into bed and sleep for the next 24 hours.

4. Time to sleep in! you can binge on sleeping in this week since you don’t have to be at that 8am class for the week. What a relief!

5. You can stop worrying about what to cook or what to buy for your next meal. Your parents are more than happy to satisfy the appetite of the malnourished university student.

6. Friends! You haven’t seen your high school friends for months and now you can get together and plan hang outs for everyone to catch up with what’s happened. You miss your friends so much and can’t wait to talk for six hours straight about school, gossip and other news.

7. The mall! Now is the time you can visit your favourite mall again or go to your favourite store. I don’t think I’m the only one whose wants are not satisfied by Conestoga mall and also not pleased with the amount of commuting time it takes to get to stores around Waterloo. I’m glad I can finally visit the Eaton Centre again in a long time.

8. Visit your favourite restaurant! You can finally treat yourself and eat out at your favourite restaurant or food bar! You’ve been craving it for the past month and now you can go and binge eat. I’m seriously missing my favourite pho place.

9. Work on hobbies! Journaling, writing, photography? You haven’t had the time for appreciating any of that in the past month because of school. Don’t forget to pursue the hobbies that you had no time for, over the break.

10. Lastly – I hate reminding people but if you have assignments and midterms due right after the break, it’ll be a wise choice to work on it now and not leaving it for last minute. Let’s transition smoothly back to school when the time comes.

Hope you had fun during the break, everyone!
