The New Year’s Resolutions I’ve Already Broken

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

Every year we say we’re going to lose weight, be studious, and end bad habits, but it’s not that easy. To make you all feel better, here’s are the top three resolutions I’ve already broken.

  1. Consume only green food items

YUM! Vegetables! I cannot smile that big within 10 square feet of a green juice. I really tried to drink purely green juice but mac n’ cheese, pizza, and a cheeseburger just slipped into my mouth. Oh well, there’s always next year!

2. Stop looking at dog pictures

I said I’d finally quit. Please someone let me know how a normal person occupies their days. I couldn’t go this last month without checking the @marniethedog Instagram. This is getting concerning and I will be accepting Dog’s Anonymous advice.

3.  Order something other than an Iced Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks

Come on! If it wasn’t betchy enough to order Starbucks daily, I cannot branch out from ordering a “Iced Caramel Macchiato with skim milk please!” It’s just too good! But really, do I have to get the most basic thing? Venturing into the coffee-without-mounds-of-sugar-world is terrifying and not easy. A resolution that has most definitely been broken.

I hope these three broken resolutions are an inspiration to you. An inspiration to either a) be better than I am or b) to accept that you are as basic and pathetic as I am. And remember, there’s always 2018!
