Campus Style: Preppy with a Twist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

Name: Laura Haft
Home Town: Washington, D.C.
Class of: 2015

What are you currently wearing? Leopard-print loafers by Stubbs & Wootton and red J Brand jeans.

What’s something you wear every day? Something that I wear every day is this gold bracelet from my grandma; it symbolizes eternal love.

How would you describe your style? Classic and preppy, but with a twist: keep almost all the rules and then break a few. For example, I love mixing classic-cut jeans in a fun color with leopard-print shoes!

Where do you like to shop? My favorite places to shop are Madewell, Anthropologie and Cusp.

What is something you would like to own, if anything? A Rick Owens leather jacket, in black.

Who are your style inspirations? My mother and Blake Lively.

What does style mean to you? I think style is a means of expressing yourself, in a way that speaking or just talking to people can’t convey. Someone can just look at you, and without saying a word, can understand how you’re feeling that day and what you want to say. I think that’s really interesting. Style for me lets me know what I’m feeling every day; what my emotions are; what I’m thinking about; what I want to say to people; what I want to say to myself. It’s a silent expression from me to the world.
