YA Binge Reading List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waseda chapter.

Exam season may be upon many students out there, but it also means that winter break is right around the corner! I don’t know about you, but when I think of winter break, I immediately envision myself snuggled up with a hot cup of tea, a soft blanket, and my favorite book(s). Instead of spending this winter break as a internet zombie (while I totally won’t blame you if you do), check out these totally awesome YA books that will fill your down time with epic adventures!

1. Vampire Academy, Richelle Mead

Twilight might have killed the whole vampire thing for some readers but if you are looking for a way back into the blood-sucking world, the Vampire Academy series is the perfect place to start. Witty, fast-paced and sexy, this series will leave you wanting more.

2. The Jewel, Amy Ewing (Lone City trilogy)

This trilogy is perfect for fans of The Selection series. Serving as the surrogate of an evil Duchess, Violet is exposed to the ugly truths that lie behind the glittering facade of royalty. Like in any good YA novel, you can expect adventure, action and some romance.

3. Throne of Glass, Sarah J. Maas

If your tired of reading about damsels in distress, this series should be your next read. Following badass assassin, Celaena Sardothien, Throne of Glass will keep you on your toes from cover to cover and make you wish you could be just as epic.

4. Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi

Her touch is lethal, erasing any chance of intimacy with any human being…or so she thought. Juliette spends most of her life isolated from others until she finds herself summoned to serve the establishment that caged her in the first place. Needless to say, things get interesting and this story is guaranteed to take you on a emotional and exciting rollercoaster. You’ve been warned.

5. Red Queen, Victoria Aveyard

Last but not least, it would be criminal of me not to mention my current obsession, Red Queen. With the highly anticipated release of the the third book coming closer, this is the perfect time to jump on the Red Queen bandwagon. A society divided by the color of their blood, characters with abilities, romance, betryal, action; it’s all mixed together to produce a story worth obsessing over.

Happy reading to all!

Thanks for reading! :)
