Brad Stokes (’15)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Name: Bradley Wade Stokes (’15)

From: Winston-Salem, NC (Townie Alert!)

Potential Major: Undecided

Relationship Status: Single

Favorite Place on Campus: Mag Patio

Her Campus (HC): What activities are you involved in on campus?
Brad Stokes (BS): I spend a lot of time doing things with RUF, Campus Kitchen and Chi Rho.  I also love playing on intramural sports teams.  My two favorites are flag football and dodgeball.

HC: What is your favorite pastime from growing up in Winston?
BS: Dash baseball games are the best.  I have gone since I was a little kid, and it’s something you can do with your family or your friends.  Going with my family has definitely been a tradition growing up that I will always remember.  I’ve also grown up going to all of the Wake football and basketball games; now that I’m a student here, they are even more fun to go to!

HC: What’d you do for the one-day fall break?
BS: Fall break was great—I went to Greenville with Chi Rho, and we sang at some churches and stayed at a friend’s house there.  Traveling around is the best; I love going to new places and getting to see new things.  Chi Rho is also an awesome organization, and I have a lot of fun being involved with it.

HC: What is your most memorable travelling experience?
BS: Dominican Republic has been one of the coolest places that I have visited.  I went there on a mission trip when I was in high school.  We built houses for the local people and got to help out with other small construction jobs.  I still really want to go to Europe though!  I know that I want to study abroad while I am here at Wake, and I would honestly go anywhere.

HC: Do you have a dream job?
BS: I’m not really sure what I want to do when I graduate from college, but it has to be something active.  I couldn’t sit in an office all day.

HC: If you could do anything at all, what would it be?
BS: Backpack around the world and help as many people as I can along the way.

HC: What is your favorite holiday?
BS: Thanksgiving—I love the food.  My whole family normally gets together for it, and we either meet up for dinner here in Winston or go to Virginia.

HC: Imagine you are on a first date.  Ideally, how would it go?
BS: The best first date would be if the said girl somehow got the Avett Brothers to come on the date with us because I love them.  That’d be the best date ever, and I guess I would have fun with the girl too…

HC: Definitely a great band!  What would make or break this first date?
BS: The girl has to know how to use silverware correctly, of course.  Like my mom always says, “Just like you are eating with the Queen.”

HC: What is something that makes you unique?
BS: I’m in a band called SalemSpeaks with four other people.  We go to Wake (me and Katherine Ririe), App State and Forsyth Tech.

HC: Awesome! What type of music do you play?
BS: The music has a folk-rock, Americana type feel.  I play the keyboard, sing and dabble on the accordion.

HC: What’s your dream location for a concert?
BS: The Red Rocks in Colorado—I think that would be great.
