2 Things to Help when You’re Feeling Down

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

While you’re in college, you’ll face times when you’re not feeling like your true self. Sometimes, you may wake up and realize that you are already grumpy. Maybe you will be having a great day, but then something – anything – will turn it dark. It’s okay to have days like those, but I believe that there are two things that you should do to make those crappy days into great days.

To me the most important thing to do is to surround yourself by those who truly care about your wellbeing. Don’t let the negativity of those who do not care about you affect you. Don’t let their bad vibes kill your good ones. The people that care are the ones who will ask you how you’re doing. They will be the ones who will bring you anything you need to make you feel better. Those that care will be the ones who will always be available no matter the time.

Treat yourself. Listen to music, watch an episode of your favorite show, go for a walk in the trails, or find a coloring book and color. Many times, we become very overwhelmed with work that you put yourself aside. Although school work is super important, it is also important to look after yourself. You may realize that the reasons why you’re feeling down are because you haven’t taken the time to care for yourself. As a college student, what you need the most is time for yourself, but we spend so much time worrying about school work. Remember that your wellbeing is super important and very essential to your success.
